A Trojan Horse W E L L I N G T O N, Fla. — Car thieves sometimes paint a stolen vehicle to hide it from police, but this was a horse of a different color. Police say Chicago-area veterinarian Cathy Crighton tried to disguise a stolen $100,000 show horse and two other animals by painting them with black Rustoleum spray paint. She was arrested Sunday at the Wellington barn where they found the animals, including San Diego, a gray gelding missing since January. The white markings on the horse's legs and head were concealed with paint, police allege, but the disguise apparently only attracted more attention. The paint could leave San Diego scarred for life. "He's back in the barn," San Diego's owner, Ron Esposito, told the Palm Beach Post. "He has some blistering, some swelling, but the veterinarians are working on him. He has not been properly cared for." Crighton faces grand theft and burglary charges.(Credit: ABCNews.com) Hmmm... gee, I can't imagine what part of her butt she pulled that out of. I mean, honestly, any person with fairly functional eyes can tell if an animal has been spray painted. If she had been smart, she would have tried to smuggle the horse out at night. Of course, from the looks of it, that's also something my neighbors would attempt. Michael: Part 2 The Bueno Master Speaks 03-04-03 This is an addition to Andrew's MJ column, linked above. Jackson has always been weird, ever since he went white. I wonder if the classic sex joke, "Once you go black, you don't go back" applies to him... of course, I bet he doesn't care what color the boys are that are in his bed. HUH? These might be tough economic times, but Fido and Whiskers aren't suffering. Americans are expected to lavish $31.5 billion on their pets this year, according to the American Pet Products Association. That's 5 percent more than last year, and nearly double the amount spent in 1994 — presumably on kibble, catnip, rawhide chewies and other creature comforts. For comparison's sake, current U.S. pet expenditures represent half the gross domestic product of Iraq and about $8 billion more than North Korea's. (Credit: ABCNews.com) Oh my gosh, we spend more on Kibbles and Bits, Meow Mix, and tennis balls than all the people in Iraq make in a year. Another reason to free them, so we can give them all Kibbles and Bits. I've heard dog food is delicious... and if we don't tell them, I bet they'd love it. France is Independent? In a blunt warning to the United States and Britain, the foreign ministers of France, Germany and Russia said Wednesday they will block any attempt to get U.N. approval for war against Iraq. Secretary of State Colin Powell, who will travel to the United Nations on Thursday to lobby for a resolution authorizing military action, countered that the United States reserves the option to take action no matter what the council does. After the emergency meeting in Paris, diplomats said it was increasingly likely that France and Russia would veto the resolution in an attempt to assert their independence and show that other powers must have influence in global affairs. Backing down now from seeking more inspections to disarm Iraq peacefully would be a major humiliation and politically costly because of strong opposition in their countries to war. (Credit: ABCNews.com) In case you didn't bother to read that, let me emphasize the main quote: "...(d)iplomats said it was increasingly likely that France...would veto the resolution in an attempt to assert their independence and show that other powers must have influence in global affairs." Ok, two problems with that. 1. France is NOT independent. If we didn't watch their back, that country would already smell a whole lot better and besides, with the exception of wines, what economy do they have? You can't run cars on wine very well. They import the majority of their oil and most of it is from...no, I'll give you three guesses, and the first two don't count. Surprised that they're against the war? 2. France has NOT been a real world power since Napoleon. Do the French even have an army? I think they rely on the UN and NATO to keep them from losing their big pointy tower. General Thoughts: Why is it that America can give and give and give (Money, Food, etc) to the poor nations of the world, but when WE ask for something (stationing troops in Turkey) they can't manage to scrape up enough decency to let us. You know the church is hypocritical when... The Ash Wednesday service, where they put a cross of ashes on your forehead, has a Bible passage read that tells you to wash your face, thereby removing the ashes and the symbolism. I heard this on Mark Davis' show on WBAP AM 820. The Human Shields are really helping us to win the war. Wherever the shields are, the troops will be, making our hunt for Iraq's troops that much easier. And while we're at it...(begin rant voice) you people protesting the war are dorks in my opinion. We have 300,000+ troops over there ready to give their lives so that you can stand outside and say "This war sucks." Besides, we've given Iraq's government enough chances. Let's get them, and get it over with. (End rant) Sorry, I've just wanted to put that on the Internet for a while. Send Feedback to Josh H. |
